The CEO Clinic: Christian Grøndahl (CEO SNIPR Biome) - Crafting an effective CEO / Board Chair Relationship

Christian Grøndahl served for the past 5 years as Chairman of the Board of Tubulis GmbH in Germany until its sale to Gilead for $5 billion. He is also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SNIPR Biome, a pioneering biotechnology company developing CRISPR-based precision medicines to combat antimicrobial resistance and other microbiome-related diseases. Since co-founding the company in 2017, he has led SNIPR Biome from inception through the development of one of Europe's leading CRISPR therapeutics platforms, raising more than US$90 million in equity financing across Series A and Series B rounds, alongside significant non-dilutive funding and strategic financing from organizations including the European Investment Bank and leading global health partners.

Christian has more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, venture investing, and company creation. Prior to founding SNIPR Biome, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Kymab Ltd., and was a Partner at Syncona LLP, the investment arm of the Wellcome Trust, where he helped build and invest in leading life science companies. Earlier in his career, he was Executive Vice President, CSO and Head of R&D at Zealand Pharma, where he played a key role in the company's IPO, and held a series of senior R&D and corporate strategy leadership positions at Novo Nordisk.

In addition to his executive responsibilities, Christian is an active company builder and board leader. He serves as Chair of the Board of Folium Sciences, and Non-Executive Director of BioMe Oxford. He is also a co-founder and director of Quadrucept Bio, and has previously served on the boards of numerous other biotech companies incl. Freeline Therapeutics and Gyroscope Therapeutics during their formative years.

Christian holds degrees in Veterinary Medicine (DVM), a PhD and Doctor of Medical Science from the University of Copenhagen, and an MBA from IMD in Lausanne. He is an inventor on more than 20 patents and patent applications spanning biologics, gene editing, and precision medicine technologies.
